Welcome to Christian Union (cu)!

Our verse, our vision, our goal:

We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well because you had become so dear to us.
1st Thessalonians 2, 8

Let us guide you through a typical cu-meeting. (Of course every evening is very untypical, new and colorful - as everyone who comes!)

dinner in cu We come together every Wednesday, 19:00 during the semester. Our meeting place is Lagshuset, Duehaugveien 5c, very close to the University of Oslo (Blindern campus). The evening starts with a home cooked meal prepared by some of our members.

socializing Our meetings are always very social and that is a big part of cu, but our focus is to learn more about the Bible, grow in faith, be enriched by fellow brothers and sisters. You don't have to be a Christian or a member to attend our meetings. We welcome everyone! If you are interested in finding out more about the Christian faith or just need a fellowship in your semester abroad: We'd be so happy to welcome you!

teaching
The meeting continues with a little worship and some words from a guest speaker. We invite pastors from congregations in Oslo, people from mission organizations or theology students... Once in a while we also have a sharing night or a prayer evening without a speaker.

socializing For many international students cu becomes a 'family away from home'. Roughly the bigger half of the members is international students, the smaller half Norwegians. Although all 'official talking' at the meetings is done in English you may get a chance to practice your Norwegian with 'the natives', too!
There are also some non-students among us, you don't have to be a student to join.

helping hands Our members are always welcome to join in with preparations for any part of the evening. That way we can make cu a place that fits the members' needs and wishes. We find this of special importance since we have members from all over the world.

closing the evening We usually close our meeting with some coffee and tea, opportunity to socialize. People always stick around to talk until the last train is leaving.

english bible group There's also a hand full of people meeting up to read the Bible together. We meet Thursdays 19:00, have dinner, sing, pray and read God's Word. Find out more about the bible group.

Nordmarkskapellet cu has a close connection to the Nordmarkskapellet, a chapel up in the Nordmarka forest north of Oslo. Once a semester we have a "cu-weekend" there and people who once have been to Nordmarkskapellet keep on finding excuses to go there on other occasions. Find out more about the Nordmarkskapellet.

group picture cu is a group of the Christian student fellowship "Laget" (Oslo Kristelige StudentLag, OKSL), the Norwegian part of the "International Fellowship of Evangelical Students" (IFES)
